Mortgage Broker FAQ’s

Mortgage Broker FAQ’s

To make your life easier, I’ve put together some of my frequently asked questions so you know the answers to the most common questions up-front.

How much does a mortgage broker cost to use?

Nothing! Mortgage Brokers earn a commission paid by the banks which means their service is FREE to you.

What is a mortgage broker?

A mortgage broker is someone who is independent of the banks. They work with people who want finance and negotiate with possible lenders to obtain a great mortgage and an affordable interest rate.

Why should I use a mortgage broker?

Because a mortgage broker can save you lots of money, time and even get you the dream home that you might otherwise miss out on and their service is FREE.

Do the banks do the same thing as a mortgage broker?

No. A bank will review your current financial situation and all previous records and will only present options that they have on offer which may not be the best offer you can get. They could also turn you down.

How does a mortgage broker save you time and money?

An experienced mortgage broker (like me!), will not only get you the best home loan deal, but can assist you in getting a loan with a smaller deposit, a great interest rate and possibly a cash back bonus! We know what information a bank will need and make sure you get it all together before applying for your loan.

We remove the need to shop around and do all the comparison work, read the fine print or negotiate the deal yourself entirely. We can review all mortgages the banks are offering and work out which one is the best to achieve your goals including:

  • Getting the best interest rate to assist you in reducing your repayments
  • Help you pay off the loan as quickly as possible
  • Making sure you get enough money for the type of house you want to purchase in the area in which you want to live.

Why shouldn’t I go to my bank and negotiate with them directly?

An experienced mortgage broker has a lot more negotiating power than an individual person or couple and is far more likely to secure you a better deal. You will have a lot of other things occupying your mind like where to buy, whether you want a house, town house or apartment, organising the move, insurance etc and most-likely won’t have the time or energy to negotiate with multiple banks.

Ultimately a mortgage broker is on YOUR team and will negotiate for your best interests and has the experience and knowledge to get you more bang for your buck.
